Swift Art Update

Currently I am in the throws of planning the next Columbus Moving Image Art Review, working as Production Lead for the Journal of Short Film as well as trying to make my own work.

Currently I have two projects perculating at the same time.

1. For over a year now I have been working on a project that explores the onslaught of media that is intended to make males understand what it is to be male and how certain portrayals of maleness in film and television blur these lines and make some men feel ashamed for being more feminine than the portrayals suggest. This is an ongoing piece that I have described as "Exploring the Male Game".

2. I have also been inclined to investigate more structuralist cinema material using digital animation. Currently a project that is almost completed will explore the realm of optical art "Op Art" and how our eyes cannot always provide an accurate definition for what they are seeing. Should be interesting.

SOHU Arts Festival

I had a great time trying hard to avoid a sunburn at the SOHU Arts Festival. This was the festival's first year and there was a pretty good turn out. I was able to speak with several people about my art as well as make valuable connections for future shows and possible freelance work. Below are some of the pics of my set up. I have to thank my Dad for the loaning of the tent. Without the tent I would have been in trouble. The sun was trying to turn my bald head into a hot plate all day.

May Grandview Hop

Thanks for everyone’s support in the May Grandview Gallery Hop. The owners of Right Click Computers received such an overwhelming response to my art being on display, that they would like me to come back to put up art every month for the Hop. Here are a few phone pics of the store front.

Judicial Health Plan

At what point do we draw the line between parental neglect and the freedom to choose how one lives and dies. I know where I stand. When I broke my arm, the ER could not figure out what was wrong and gave me some pain killers. Two visits to my acupuncturist and the arm I could not move regained full mobility. If parents feel the same way I do about alternative medicine compared to western medicine, then they should tell the judicial system should mind its own business. How can a judge honestly think that justice is arresting a mother who does not wish to subject her dying child to chemotherapy? If the doctors pursing this case have actual proof of abuse that extend beyond enacting legal guardianship for a minor then I might not be so peeved.
